The Vale Inco project at Long Harbour is under a "Special Project Order". Contractors and subcontractors carrying out work will hire workers who are members of the trades unions. Business News

The site clearing for the Vale Inco Nickel Plant has been completed.  The demolition at port site is also complete.  Earthworks at the plant site is approximately 30% complete.  The main process area is presently being cleared.  Fluor, the EPCM Contractor is proceeding with the engineering design work and procurrement work. Studies being undertaken are transportation logistics, marine & land traffic, fabrication facilities pre-qualifications and accommodations.
